"There's no place like home."
This line from the movie The Wizard of Oz (my favorite movie of all time) surfaced in the spring a few years back, as I was thinking about going home after spending three weeks away (having a wonderful time), so I went about creating a series of images that would attempt to express how I feel about "home".
"Home" is certainly the physical structure in which I reside, but it is also so much more:
- "Home" is the people and animals that I share the physical space with; it is the surrounding environment with its flora and fauna; it's the energy that emanates from all these things and surrounds me.
- "Home" is physical and emotional comfort and warmth, safety and security, love and care.
- "Home" is where I feel centered and grounded, and where I am free to be completely and exactly who I am, with no excuses or apologies.
"Home" is my sacred ground.
